The duodenum and head of the pancreas were resected in standard fashion (see Whipple Procedures VID 167, VID 636VID 897, VID 996). The cut end of the body of the pancreas is shown secured with stay sutures at the cephalad and caudal margins. The cut common duct is secured with a bulldog clamp.

The cut end of the pancreas was invaginated (see pancreatic intussusception) into the end of a jejunal Roux-Y loop.
