The right colon was mobilized by opening the peritoneal reflection (white line of Toldt) and sweeping retroperitoneal tissue and ureter off the recreated right colon mesentery with a moist sponge stick (see total colectomy and J-pouch, ulcerative colitis, and total colectomy and J-pouch for ulcerative colitis (video)).
