This fibrous band extending from the lateral segment (segments II and III, see hepatic segmental atlas, frame 8) of the left lobe of the liver to the diaphragm and abdominal wall represents a remnant of the regressed left lobe of the embryonic liver. It is a variation that is occasionally present and may contain liver substance.
