The remaining muscular cavity is shown after complete excision of the lipoma. Note the fasical band on the surface of the vastus intermedius at the bottom of the cavity.

After careful hemostasis, the vastus lateralis was closed with continuous 2-0 absorbable suture. fascia was left open. No drain was left.
