Submucosal Lipoma, Transverse Colon: 43
A D V E R T I S E M E N T
The term seromuscular is a misnomer. The strong collagen-containing layer of the bowel wall is the submucosa, and this must be included in the stitch. The submucosal plexus of blood vessels is a good indicator that a bite is deep enough. If the needle is deep to the submucosa, the bowel wall will blanch when the needle is elevated.
