The maneuver of turning in the corner is shown schematically. The suture line is completed running the two suture ends toward the middle.

The last stitch of the Connell is shown. This is usually completed as a Halsted stitch (seromuscular horizontal mattress) because a direct view of the mucosa is no longer obtainable in the residual space. The final stitch places the two ends on opposite sides of the suture line.
