The patient was taken to the operating room with a diagnosis of subclavian steal syndrome (see subclavian steal and carotid-subclavian bypass and discussion .) The incision site is shown extending from the clavicular head of the sternocleidomastoid laterally, two centimeters cephalad to the clavicle.
