Injection of the posterior circulation shows no posterior communicating connection to the anterior circulation at the Circle of Willis  (see common carotid to internal carotid bypass, frame 4.)

The patient was taken to the operating room with a diagnosis of subclavian steal syndrome (see subclavian steal and carotid-subclavian bypass and discussion.) The incision site is shown extending from the clavicular head of the sternocleidomastoid laterally, two centimeters cephalad to the clavicle.
