The patient was taken to the operating room and the abdomen was opened through an upper midline incision with the intent of resecting the segment of bowel (fourth portion of duodenum or proximal jejunum) containing the lesion. The room was set up for intraoperative endoscopy to confirm the location of the lesion.

The transverse colon was elevated to expose proximal jejunum. On exploration, there was no extraluminal pathology of adenopathy.
