The patient was asymptomatic and there were no findings on physical exam. The patient was sent for contrast CT of the abdomen to clearly delineate the lesion and rule out other pathology. The lesion was felt to be consistent with appendiceal mucocele (see mucinous cystadenoma.)

After bowel prep, the patient was taken to the operating room for laparoscopic resection of the lesion (see laparoscopic appendectomies, VID 1149 and VID 1153.) It was anticipated that an ileocecal resection might be necessary to completely encompass the lesion.
