Lower Gastrointestinal Bleed: 4

When a source of bleeding is not evident, the first vessel studied on angiogram is the inferior mesenteric artery. Concentration and excretion of contrast by the kidneys and accumulation in the bladder may obscure a low left-sided bleed later in an angiographic study if other vessels are injected first.

This patient's left colon was free of bleeding. Of note was a well-developed marginal artery.
