The patient was taken to the operating room for endoscopic treatment of the diverticulum. The 5-mm videoscope and the operating Wierda scope are shown. The patient was intubated with a small diameter endotracheal tube which was secured laterally in the oral cavity and out the corner of the mouth.

The scope was carefully directed posterior to the larynx, protecting the teeth. The suspension attachment of the scope was supported on a Mayo stand.
