A 48-year-old woman with no history of prior abdominal surgery underwent abdominal CT scan during workup for vague abdominal symptoms. Thickening of the lateral cecal wall at the base of the appendix was noted. Colonoscopy did not reveal any cecal mucosal defect or mass.

The cecal abnormality is shown. The patient was taken to the operating room for laparoscopic exploration and possible laparoscopic ileocecectomy.

The laparoscope was introduced through an umbilical port placed by Veress needle technique. There were localized adhesions noted in the right lower quadrant.
