A 74-year-old woman had two episodes of diverticulitis requiring hospitalization. The CT scan from the first episode 9 months prior to the current admission shows sigmoid thickening with pericolonic fat stranding.
The involved segment is highlighted. The condition resolved with antibiotics and bowel rest. Colonoscopy performed 6 weeks after the first episode was normal with the presence of scattered diverticula.
