A long 3/4" Penrose drain is placed through the opening in the transverse mesocolon, leaving one end on the body of the stomach.

The greater omentum is lifted to identify the jejunum at the ligament of Treitz. The bowel is followed a distance of 15-20cm and divided (3.5mm cartridge).
