The tumor also exhibited scar formation. The patient was started on chemotherapy and was responding by the end of the second cycle, with reduction of alfa-fetoprotein level. Repeat CT scan was planned to reevaluate the retroperitoneal mass.

A CT after two months and two cycles of chemotherapy showed the retroperitoneal tumor to have shrunken by 1/3. In view of the response, a third cycle of chemotherapy was started. Note the ureteral stent to relieve compressive hydronephrosis.
