The patient was taken to the operating room for supraumbilical exploration under local anesthesia. Preparation was made for possible intubation if non-viable incarcerated bowel was found in the hernia. Local anesthesia of 1% lidocaine and 1/4% marcaine without epinephrine was infiltrated in the skin and sub-Q.
