The patient underwent neoadjuvant chemoradiation with 5FU, platinol and Taxatere, and 25 doses of radiotherapy over 7 cycles.

On repeat CT scan there were multiple small (< 1 cm) lymph nodes in the mediastinum adjacent to the esophagus. The GE junction lymphadenopathy was decreased as was the soft tissue density in the gastrohepatic ligament. The nodes no longer appeared pathological. Initial PET scan FDG avidity at the site of the cancer was absent on post-neoadjuvant study. There was again no evidence of metastatic disease.
