Groin Dissection for Melanoma: 6

The node is highlighted. Fine needle aspiration of the node showed metastatic melanoma. Head MRI was normal, and PET scan lit up the abnormal node without other foci of disease. Lymphoscintigraphy (see neck melanoma – wide excision and sentinel node, sentinel lymph node dissection for thigh melanoma, and sentinel node biopsy for melanoma of the back) was not performed because of the obvious nodal pathology and negative pet for other nodal basins.
