The gallbladder is supplied by a branch of the cystic artery running on its free surface, and a deep branch that lies between the gallbladder and liver. Identification of each branch avoids bleeding from an intact deep branch during dissection of the body of the gallbladder. Sometimes both branches arise from the right hepatic with a common trunk as shown.
