Aside from the kidney stones the patient was asymptomatic. All endocrine studies were normal except for a markedly elevated pancreatic polypeptide of 2150 (nl. 20-200). Indium labeled octreotide scan highlighted the two pancreatic lesions. Trans-gastric ultrasound also identified the pancreatic lesions.

Branches of the hepatic and superior mesenteric arteries supply the head of the pancreas and branches of the tortuous splenic artery supply the body and tail (see right upper quadrant anatomy and spleen anatomy).
