The greater curvature of the stomach is supplied by the gastroepiploic arcade and the short gastric (gastrosplenic) vessels (see lower GI bleed). The left gastroepiploic artery is a branch of the splenic artery. The short gastrics also originate from the splenic artery branches in the hilum of the spleen.
The short gastric vessels lie in the gastrospleinic ligament which, in its anatomic position, is folded between the posterolateral wall of the stomach and the gastric surface of the spleen.
