The inferior pancreaticoduodenal artery was divided. Sometimes a single trunk gives rise to the inferior pancreaticoduodenal arteries and sometimes they arise independently. The remainder of uncinate process attachments were divided, freeing the pancreatic head.

The common duct was occluded with an atraumatic bulldog clamp and divided above the duodenum. The specimen was removed from the field.
