The right limb was sutured with 4-0 monofilament. A 50mEq amp of bicarb was administered prior to opening each limb of the graft. The bicarbonate counteracts the release of lactic acid built up in the lower extremity while it was not perfused. The anastomosis was checked for leaks.

The left limb was sutured similarly. The heparin was reversed, unit per unit with protamine.
