The incision was closed in a standard fashion.

Comment: Even in the face of obvious residual nodal or metastatic disease, the resection of a colon lesion is indicated for restoring bowel function, eliminating blood loss and preventing obstruction. The patient often will succumb to the systemic disease without local recurrence.
