The gastrocolic omentum lies directly over the pendent transverse mesocolon, and the two layers are often adherent, particularly toward the right end of the greater curve of the stomach. It is easy to go through both layers and injure the middle colic vessel in attempring to enter the lesser sac. The mid-greater curve is usually where there is separation and safe entry can be made.
