The cut surface of the specimen is shown. The smaller lesion proved to be a second carotid body tumor. the larger mass, shown here, was a paraganglioma arising in the superior sympathetic ganglion (see neck mass at the carotid bifurcation ). The patient had a Horner's syndrome postoperatively.
