Marlex mesh was folded over the rectus muscle on each side and secured with quilting stitches of 0 braided, synthetic, non-absorbable suture. The first row of sutures was placed along the lateral border of the rectus and the second row halfway to the free edge. The deep free edge of the mesh was tacked to the parietal peritoneum with continuous 2-0 polypropylene.
