The lateral wall of the intercondylar notch of the femur is where the ACL anatomically originates. This site was cleared using shaving instruments and the location for placement of the femoral bone tunnel was determined.

The tibial tunnel was drilled from outside-in.

The diagram shows the proper trajectory for the tibial bone tunnel. The bone tunnels are designed to place the graft in the original "anatomic" location with respect to its origin from the femur and insertion into the tibia.
