The confluence of portal branches is shown. The junction of superior mesenteric and splenic is at the tip of the sucker. The inferior mesenteric vein joins the superior mesenteric below.

The left gastric (coronary) vein was encountered early in the dissection of the distal (relative to the direction of flow, i.e., the part closest to the portal/SMA junction) splenic vein. It was ligated and divided to begin mobilization of the splenic vein.

The multiple tiny branches draining the body and tail of the pancreas into the splenic vein were carefully ligated and divided.
