The left gastric artery was ligated and divided. The nasogastric (NG) tube was withdrawn to just above the esophagogastric junction, and the esophagus was divided distal to the stay sutures. The specimen was removed. The opened specimen is shown, with the friable tumor at the gastric cardia (upper right).
