The jejunum was divided 30cm distal to the ligament of Treitz using a linear stapler, and the distal end was brought up through the transverse mesocolon to the left of the middle colic vessels. The end was folded back on itself a distance of 15 cm to form a Hunt-Lawrence pouch.
