A 29-year-old man presented with recurrent acute disruption of his right Achilles tendon (see leg anatomy) five months after primary repair of an acute rupture. MRI scan shows the two centimeter gap in the tendon.

There was no avulsion of the tendon insertion at the calcaneous.
