Local anesthesia was infiltrated around the operative field, and the skin was closed in layers in standard fashion. The foot was placed in 5 degrees plantar flexion in a posterior and clam shell splint. The splint would be left on for two weeks, to be replaced with a fracture boot with a heel lift and 10 degrees of plantar flexion for an additional 4-6 weeks. Easy plantar flexion exercises would be started at 2 weeks. Early motion speeds tendon healing and decreases adhesion formation. Dorsiflexion would be limited to 90 degrees for the first one to two months.
