The heart was covered with a warm moist pad and the liver team dissected the liver free so that when the heart team returned to arrest the heart, they would be ready to remove the liver. (IVC is not ligated at this point). This can take anywhere between one and three hours depending on the number of abdominal organs to be harvested and the experience of the liver harvest team.
