An incisional biopsy was performed which showed a sarcoma (see myxoid liposarcoma of the leg discussion ) of indeterminate type (see synovial sarcoma discussion ).

The skin incision included margins overlying the palpable edges of the mass due to the tumor's subcutaneous location. For a deeper lesion, only 2 cm margins around the biopsy incision are necessary.
