An incisional biopsy was performed which showed a sarcoma (see myxoid liposarcoma of the leg discussion) of indeterminate type (see synovial sarcoma discussion).

The skin incision included margins overlying the palpable edges of the mass due to the tumor's subcutaneous location. For a deeper lesion, only 2 cm margins around the biopsy incision are necessary.
