The working strand is now draped over the index finger and pinched between the thumb and the side of the middle finger. The non-working strand is crossed over the working strand on the index finger, again leaving a loose loop. No tension should be placed on either strand or the previous throw will be disturbed and loosened.

The right index extends, catching the working strand between the crossing point and the thumb. It continues to sweep downward and then to the right through the loop, pulling the working strand with it.
