An anterior view of a carotid angiogram shows the bifurcation of the internal carotid into anterior and middle cerebral branches. The anterior cerebral passes medially to the intercerebral fissure where it is linked to its mate by the anterior communicating. It then ascends over the corpus callosum. The middle cerebral sends its branches up over the surface of the insula, then out the Sylvian fissure to the lateral surfaces of the brain.
The anterior view of the vertebral circulation shows the circuitous route of the vertebral to the foramen magnum, the basilar artery, cerebellar branches and terminal division into posterior cerebral arteries.
