A 28-year-old man presented with back pain unresponsive to conservative management. Further work up with MRI revealed a lesion in the spinal canal at the level of T12 compressing the cord.
A laminectomy was performed and the neurilemmoma is shown exposed after dura and arachnoid were opened. A biopsy was sent for frozen section (note defect) and the diagnosis of schwannoma was confirmed. The lesion was shelled out using an ultrasonic aspirator, preserving normal neural tissue.
