A laminectomy was performed and the neurilemmoma is shown exposed after dura and arachnoid were opened. A biopsy was sent for frozen section (note defect) and the diagnosis of schwannoma was confirmed. The lesion was shelled out using an ultrasonic aspirator, preserving normal neural tissue.
