The inferior wall of the sphenoid sinus was opened and the mucosa was stripped from the superior wall of the sinus which constitutes the bony floor of the sella turcica. Mucosal bleeding was controlled with bipolar cautery.

The wall of the sella was opened on the left and resected using a rongeur, exposing the underlying dura of the pituitary fossa.
