A large amount of clot was found on opening the posterior parietal peritoneum and Gerota’s fascia.

The clot was evacuated from the right upper quadrant. The right colon was mobilized along the peritoneal reflection (white line of Toldt, see right colon resection), the duodenum was Kocherized, and the viscera rotated over to the patient’s left (medial visceral rotation).

The remnant of the right adrenal gland was seen on the medial wall of the evacuated right upper quadrant cavity.
