The pseudocapsule of the hemorrhagic cavity is seen with the adrenal gland remnant on the medial wall. A specimen of the capsule was sent for pathology.

The illustration shows the anatomy of the cavity. The fragmented adrenal lies on the inferior vena cava beneath the liver. The liver is displaced upward and the renal impression and hepatic flexure impression are visible on its undersurface (see hepatic anatomy). The right kidney is displaced caudally, stretching the vascular pedicle. The C-loop of the duodenum is displaced medially, and the hepatic flexure is displaced caudally. The colon mesentery and Gerota’s fascia (see renal anatomy) are not shown for clarity. The blood was within the retroperitoneum and surrounding the right kidney within Gerota’s fascia.
