A 26-year-old man presented with a two-week history of tender masses above and below the right inguinal ligament. He had experienced some night sweats but no weight loss. Laboratory values were normal. The CT scan was interpreted as possible sarcoma or lymphoma.

The patient was taken to the operating room for open biopsy. The thigh mass is shown.

There was pus present with the mass. Aerobic, anaerobic, fungal and Tb cultures were sent.
