The superior branch of the ophthalmic nerve supplies the levator palpebrae superioris and superior rectus, while the inferior branch supplies the inferior and medial recti and inferior oblique and sends fibers to the ciliary ganglion. The abducent nerve (IV) innervates the lateral rectus, and the trochlear nerve (VI), entering the orbit through the superior orbital fissure outside the tendinous ring, supplies the superior oblique.
