The lesser curve of the stomach at the incisura was cleared of vessels, and the gastroepiploic arch was divided on the greater curvature. The stomach was divided with a linear stapler.

The peritoneal reflection around the first portion of jejunum beneath the transverse mesocolon was opened and the ligament of Treitz (indicated by forceps) was exposed and divided.

The jejunal mesentery was transilluminated, and a vascular arcade was chosen for transection of the jejunum 14 cm beyond the ligament of Treitz. Note the mesenteric opening at the jejunal border.
