Four 4-0 silk horizontal mattress were placed from the posterior wall of the jejunal end through the back of the pancreatic stump and left long. The jejunal staple line was excised, opening the bowel. Two 2-0 silk sutures on a straight (Keith) needle were placed from outside to in, three cm back from the jejunal end, through the upper and lower border of the pancreas, and back out through the jejunum. The two intussuscepting sutures were tied, drawing the pancreatic end into the jejunal lumen. The posterior sutures were tied. Four additional 4-0 horizontal mattress sutures were placed anteriorly.
