The membranous portion of the left diaphragm can be seen in the anterior part of the lower incision, and the pericardium is seen in the upper part of the upper incision, demonstrating access to these two structures through the left chest.

Anterior and posterior chest tubes are shown in place. The ribs were approximated with interrupted figure of 8 #2 braided absorbable suture. Muscles and skin were closed in layers.
